The team is built by repeat founders, Olympiad medalists, IIT & IIM alumni, and leaders from Google, Amazon, and Dropbox. Engineering is ~65 people, mostly in Bangalore, with a US team just starting up.

The Role

Emergent’s engineering team is young and fast. When an incident hits, there are a handful of people in the room who have seen it before and know exactly why it’s happening. We’re hiring more of those people.

You’ll own core backend systems that power millions of AI-generated applications — the services, platforms and agent infrastructure that the rest of engineering builds on. You’ll make architectural calls, ship code daily, and be the person who thinks about scale from the first line.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build and operate high-performance backend services and platforms in Python and Go
• Own distributed-systems problems end to end: concurrency, reliability, performance at global scale
• Build agent-level infrastructure and frameworks consumed by other teams across the company
• Lead design discussions, set technical direction, and raise the engineering bar through code review and mentorship
• Be on point when things break — diagnose, fix, and make sure it doesn’t happen again
• Move fast: every new frontier model changes the game, and we have to be the first to adapt

Who You Are

• 8–12 years of backend/systems engineering experience
• You’ve seen a 0→1 and a 1→10 journey — grown through multiple promotions at one good startup, or built platform systems at a company operating at real scale
• Staff or principal level today, and still hands-on — you write production code every day and use AI coding tools to write more of it, not less
• Strong in Python and/or Go; deep grasp of distributed systems, concurrency and performance optimization
• You’ve built services or frameworks that other teams depend on — platform, internal agent workflows, shared infrastructure
• Comfortable with a high-pace, growth-metric-driven environment where the needle has to move every month

Compensation

₹80L–1.2Cr fixed, plus equity. We don’t benchmark — we pay what it takes for the people who clear the bar.
